Romeo With A Dumbbell

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

This policy explains what information Romeo With A Dumbbell (“the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, why we collect it, where it is kept, and the choices you have.

In short: your training log belongs to you. We keep a backup of your workouts so that you do not lose them, your body measurements only if you ask us to, and a count of how the app is used that cannot be traced back to you. We do not sell your data, we do not show advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

1. Who we are

Romeo With A Dumbbell is responsible for the information described in this policy (the “controller” under data protection law). Romeo With A Dumbbell, contact@romeolifts.com. You can reach us at contact@romeolifts.com.

2. What stays on your phone

Much of what you create in the app never leaves your device. Your templates, routines and training blocks, your custom exercises, your exercise setup notes, your display name and your settings are stored only on your phone. We cannot see them. If you delete the app or lose your phone, we cannot recover them for you.

3. Your account

To back up your training, the app needs an account. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address, or with Google, or with Apple where that option is offered. We receive your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the basic profile information they share with us. With Google, that is your name, a link to your profile picture and your Google account ID; with Apple, an Apple account ID, and a private relay address in place of your email if you choose to hide it. Our sign-in provider stores these with your account; the app does not use them.

We use your email address to sign you in, to identify your account and to reply when you write to us. We do not send marketing emails. When you sign in, our sign-in provider also records the IP address and device details of the request, to protect your account from misuse.

4. Your workouts

When you are signed in, the workouts you save are backed up to our servers. A backup contains everything you record in a workout: its name, the exercises, sets, weights, repetitions and effort ratings, how long you rested between sets, the muscles each exercise trains, any training mode or deload marking, your cardio and stretching entries, including distance, duration and calories, any notes you write, the date, when it started and finished, and the time zone in which it took place.

We keep this so that your history can be restored on a new phone and is not lost if something happens to your device. Backups are compressed and stored privately under your account, and no other user can read them. We keep a rolling set of copies covering the last seven days and the last four weeks; older copies are deleted automatically.

Each time a backup arrives, our servers also check that it can be read, so that a problem is found and fixed before you need to restore. To do this, a program copies the workouts in that backup into separate tables: the sessions, exercises, sets, cardio and stretching entries and their times, without the workout names or any notes. These tables carry a random code in place of your account, never your email address or name, and none of your body measurements; no app and no other user can read them. Where part of a backup cannot be read, we record which version of the app made it and which part could not be read, never what it contained. The copy is replaced with each new backup, and it is deleted with your account.

5. Your body measurements

Your bodyweight, body measurements, body fat and training phase are information about your health, and we treat them with particular care. They are backed up only if you tick the box asking us to, which is unticked unless you choose otherwise. If you do not, they stay on your phone.

You can change your mind at any time in the app. If you switch the option off, your body measurements are deleted from every backup copy the next time the app backs up — straight away if you are online, otherwise as soon as it can connect. They stay on your phone.

6. Messages you send us

If you send us a message from the app, we store its subject and text with your account so that we can read it and reply.

7. Usage statistics

To understand which parts of the app are used and which are not, the app can send anonymous usage statistics: which screens are opened, which features are used (for example, that a workout was saved or a template was loaded), the version of the app and the region set on your phone.

Each installation of the app has a random identifier that is not linked to your account, your email address or your name, and that is replaced if you switch statistics off. We never send your weights, repetitions, notes or anything you type. Our analytics provider discards your IP address and does not store it.

If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, usage statistics stay off unless you agree to them. Everywhere else, including the United Kingdom, they are on by default and you can switch them off at any time in Profile. We keep usage statistics for one year.

8. Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We use a small number of service providers who handle data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it and to use it only to provide their service to us:

Supabase provides sign-in, our database and backup storage, hosted in London, United Kingdom. Resend delivers the sign-in emails. PostHog receives the anonymous usage statistics, which are stored in the European Union. Google and Apple handle sign-in if you choose to use them. Google Workspace hosts our email. Apple distributes the app and handles any purchases made through the App Store.

We may also disclose information where the law requires us to.

9. International transfers

Some of our providers are based outside the United Kingdom and the European Union, including in the United States. Where your information is transferred, we rely on the safeguards the law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Why we are allowed to use your information

Under UK and EU data protection law, we rely on the following grounds. We use your account details and workouts to provide the service you signed up for (contract). We back up your body measurements, and collect usage statistics in the EU, EEA and Switzerland, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We collect usage statistics elsewhere, keep the service secure and reply to your messages because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving the app, and we have weighed that against your privacy. Occasionally we may need to keep or disclose information to meet a legal obligation.

11. How long we keep it

We keep your account, your workout backups, any body measurement backups and your messages until you delete your account. Within that, only the rolling set of backup copies described above is kept. Usage statistics are kept for one year. When you delete your account, your account, backups and messages are removed from our servers straight away. Our hosting provider’s routine database backups may hold a copy of your account record and messages for up to seven days before it is overwritten. Usage statistics are not linked to your account, so they are not deleted with it; they expire after one year.

12. Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Profile, then Your data. This permanently deletes your account, your backups and your messages from our servers, and resets the usage statistics identifier on your phone. What is on your phone stays there until you delete the app.

Signing out backs up your workouts and then removes them, and your measurements, from the phone. You can also export your workouts as a CSV file at any time.

13. Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw any consent you have given. To use any of these rights, write to contact@romeolifts.com. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) in the United Kingdom, or to the data protection authority where you live. We would be grateful for the chance to put things right first.

14. Children

The app is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

15. Security

Information sent between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Backups are stored privately and can be read only by the account they belong to, and we test those access rules. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.

16. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app.
